Comments: The
program awards 4 scholarships for advanced doctoral students who are completing
dissertations that further the understanding of the educational pathways and
experiences of high-achieving, low-income students. The fellowship is intended to focus more
scholarly attention on the population of students the Foundation serves in
order to enable parents, policymakers, and practitioners to better support such
students in achieving their full potential.
Each award covers a portion of educational expenses, including tuition,
living expenses, required fees and books.

Comments: The Center offers 3 dissertation fellowships each year. One, funded by the National Museum of the U.S. Army, is designed to support dissertations that explore the material culture of the Army; the two others support research in the more general areas of military history in all its many aspects.
Applicants must be admitted to candidacy, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and must not have held an equivalent fellowship from any Department of Defense agency. The award provides a $10,000 stipend and access to the Center.
