The Chicago Reader came out with its "Best of Chicago" issue. It follows the generally north-side centric bent of its audience (especially for the reader-voted categories). Hyde Park/mid-South Side connected items:

• Hallowed Grounds - in the Reynolds Club walks away with "Best University Coffeehouse".
• UofC is well-represented in politics: alumni and/or former faculty Ameya Pawar, Toni Preckwinkle, and the Obamas are mentioned in various categories
• Nearby notables that get a nod include: Jackson Park Golf Course, Lakeside Lawn Bowling (in Jackson Park), watching cricket in Washington Park, and Daley's Restaurant on 63rd Street.
