Comments: Several internships provide early career individuals with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the National Academies in Washington, DC, learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. Each year, applicants from around the world become part of a National Academies committee, board, or unit where they are assigned to a mentor and learn about the world of science and technology policy. An immersive experience, the program is designed to broaden fellows' appreciation of employment opportunities outside academia and leave them with both a firm grasp of the important and dynamic role of science and technology in decision-making and a better understanding of the role that they can play in strengthening the science and technology enterprise for the betterment of mankind. Current graduate and professional school students and those who have completed graduate studies (degree awarded) within the last five years may apply. Stipends of $8,500 to offset living expenses during the fellowship period.

Deadline: 7/8/13-statement of intent to apply due. 8/5/13-full application due. 

Comments: Awards offered to doctoral students to investigate the application of quality principles and quality thinking of applicants' chosen field. Fellows will be given the chance to share their key findings of your dissertation with the ASQ community of more than 85,000 quality experts worldwide and to publish their findings in ASQ's flagship publications.At least nine months must be remaining in residence at the student's university from the due date of application.

Length: 10 weeks

Comments: Four internship sessions lasting 10-weeks are available throughout the year for students interested in gaining museum practice and program development experience.Must be currently enrolled in a university program or have completed the program no more than six months before application deadline. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or its equivalent is generally expected.Travel, housing, and stipends may be provided to students on a limited basis. Students receiving stipends must work full time (forty hours per week).

Comments:Up to 20 scholarships for master's and doctoral study in communication sciences and disorders, audiology, and early childhood language development. Up to 4 master's or doctoral student scholarships will be awarded for special purposes including students with disability, minority students, international students, and NSSLHA members.Scholarships are open to full-time graduate students, some awards are for disabled and minority students only. Award amount is $5,000.

Comments: One or more grants are awarded annually to foster graduate student research in hydrology and water resources leading to the completion of doctoral dissertations. Nonrenewable. Graduate students at any point during their doctoral program. A grant of $10,000 per year.

Comments: Up to 20 scholarships offered to support doctoral education and research in the field of communication sciences and disorders. The intention of this program is to support doctoral candidates who will pursue a teacher-investigator career in the academic environment, university/college level. Students must be accepted to, or currently enrolled in, a research doctoral program in communication sciences and disorders. Students enrolled in a clinical doctoral program are not eligible to participate. Students must also be either a NSSLHA member or an ASHA member at the time of application. Stipend of $10,000.

Comments: Scholarships support women with bachelor degrees to continue graduate studies towards an advanced degree in any field. Award renewable.Must have a 3.0 GPA and have a commitment to serving others in the African-American community. Also, must not be a member of or have a family member affiliated with Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.Competitive stipends offered.

Eligibility Requirements: Citizenship - ACOR: U.S. citizens. NEH: U.S. citizen or foreign national. Mellon: Applicants must be citizens of certain European countries. Groot, Sauer: U.S. or Canadian citizens. CAORC, NEH, Mellon, Sauer, and Bikai Fellows will reside at the ACOR facility in Amman while conducting their research. Stipends vary by program see description.

 

Program Description: Ten fellowship programs. ACOR/CAORC Fellowship: Three or more 2 to 6-month fellowships for MA and pre-doctoral students. Maximum award is $20,200. ACOR/CAORC Post-Graduate Fellowships: Two or more 2 to 6-month fellowships for post-doctoral scholars pursuing research or publications in the social sciences, humanities and associated disciplines relating to the Middle East. Maximum award is $29,400. NEH Post-doctoral research Fellowship: Two 4- month fellowship in fields of modern and classical languages, linguistics, literature, history, jurisprudence, philosophy, archaeology, comparative religion, ethics, and the history, criticism, and the theory of the arts. Maximum award is $20,400. Jennifer C. Groot Fellowship: Two or more awards of $1,800 each for archaeological fieldwork. Harrell Family Fellowship and, Kenneth W. Russell Fellowship: Each Fellowship provides one award of $1,800 for participation in an ACOR- supported archaeological project. Pierre and Patricia Bikai Fellowship: One or two awards for 1 or 2 months of residency at ACOR. Monthly stipend of $600. James A. Sauer Fellowship: One award for one month residency at ACOR. The fellowship includes a stipend of $400.

Comments: Up to 12 students selected for a 10 week internship program in congressional offices in Washington, DC, fulfilling a variety of tasks ranging from general support work to special research and writing projects. Interns work full-time and gain firsthand knowledge of decision-making events and government processes. The program seeks to give Native American students an opportunity to learn about the federal government from the inside.Open to college juniors and seniors, graduate students, recent graduate from a tribal or four-year college and law students. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be an enrolled member of Native American tribe. Stipend of $1,200 plus airfare, lodging, and daily allowance.

Length: 12 wks - 24 months

 

Eligibility Requirements: Open only to U.S. citizens. Study outside the U.S. is encouraged, but not required. All fellows must include the study of a modern language other than English. Recipients must agree to work for the federal government or in the field of education after graduating. NSEP gives some preference to applications that include important global, economic, political, and/or social issues affecting U.S. national security. No minimum level of language proficiency required. Stipends up to $30,000 per year for international study and domestic study. Up to $24,000 for overseas study.

 

Program Description: Fellowships support graduate students who wish to add an international component to their studies. Fellows can pursue the study of languages, cultures, and regions of the world outside of Western Europe, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Awards provide up to 24 months of support.
