Comments: Each year The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) awards two grants of $1,000 each to student memberss who are doing human sexuality research. The purpose of the research can be a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation, but this is not a requirement. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree-granting program and a member (student) of SSSS. Student research grant awards are funded by the Foundation for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.

Comments:Inaugurated in 1986, the Capitol Fellowship Program has provided financial support to more than fifty scholars researching important topics in the art and architectural history of the United States Capitol Complex. Fellowship support permits scholars--selected on the basis of their qualifications and research proposals--to use the extensive documents housed in the Office of the Architect of the Capitol, the Library of Congress and the National Archives. Graduate Students enrolled in a degree program in art or architectural history, American history, American studies, museum studies, or decorative arts, and scholars with a proven record of research and publication may apply. The proposed topic must directly relate to some elements of art or architecture within the United States Capitol complex: the Capitol, the congressional office buildings, the Library of Congress buildings, the Supreme Court buildings, and the Botanic Garden.  Depending upon the scope of the proposal, the fellowship may be requested for a minimum of one month and a maximum of one year. The fellowship amount is $2,500 per month, up to a maximum of $30,000 for a full year, pending the availability of funding.

Comments:The purpose of the Herbert Hoover Travel Grant Award is to fund travel to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa. The Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association is a nonprofit support group for the Hoover Presidential Library-Museum and Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch. 

Current graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and independent researchers are eligible to apply. An applicant should contact the archival staff to determine if Library holdings are pertinent to the applicant's research. Finding aids for library's major holdings are available online at www.hoover.nara.gov. All funds awarded shall be expended for travel and research expenses related to the use of the holdings of the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library. In recent years, awards have ranged from $500 to $1,500 per applicant. The Association will consider requests for extended research at the library. An independent committee of distinguished scholars from Iowa colleges and universities evaluates the research proposals.

Comments:Scholars interested in STG can apply to conduct research in up to two countries for up to eight weeks. As part of the STG fellowship, participants are provided with visa assistance, international roundtrip transportation, a monthly allowance for housing and living expenses, and emergency evacuation insurance. STG applicants must have a graduate degree (PhD, MA, MD, MBA, MFA, MPA, MPH, MLIS, MS, JD) at the time of application and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a grant offered by the Education Office of the Embassy of France in the United States. Every year, it allows doctorate students enrolled in American universities- to conduct research in France for 8 months. This program has two main goals :

1. To allow American doctorate students to benefit from an experience in a French University. 2. To develop Franco-American academic partnerships.

Chateaubriand recipients receive about 1500€/month, a round trip ticket to France, and health insurance.

Comments: The Eurasia Program offers fellowship support that provides financial and academic support to graduate students in the early stages of dissertation development, and Ph.D. candidates near completion of their doctoral programs in social sciences and related humanities.  Pre-Dissertation Awards (PDAs) enable early stage graduate students to perform initial field assessments of up to 4 weeks for archival exploration, preliminary interviews, and other forms of feasibility studies.  Proposals should reflect a clear plan, require a budget of less than $3,000, and clearly articulate the policy relevance of the proposed subject. Dissertation Development Awards (DDAs) are intended to provide one year of support to enable the prompt completion of a PhD dissertation.  The competition is open to advanced graduate students who have completed their fieldwork. Stipend up to $20,000.  All applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States as of December 1, 2012.

Comments:The Leifur Eiríksson Foundation funds scholars from U.S. universities for graduate research or study at universities in Iceland, and scholars from universities in Iceland to conduct research or study at universities in the United States. Recipients are chosen by the Foundation's Board of Trustees. Up to $25,000 in project costs, including travel to and from the research or study site will be paid on the scholar's behalf.

Comments: The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) offers fellowships (up to $23,000) and grants (normally $5,000) to individuals to pursue research or study in one or more Scandinavian country for up to one year. The number of awards varies each year according to total funds available. Over $300,000 is available for the 2013-14 competition. Awards are made in all fields. Applicants must have a well-defined research or study project that makes a stay in Scandinavia essential.Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents. Grants are considered especially suitable for post-graduate scholars, professionals, and candidates in the arts to carry out research or study visits of one to three months duration.Fellowships are intended to support a year-long stay. Priority is given to candidates at the graduate level for dissertation-related study or research.The awards support project-related costs, including maintenance, trans- Atlantic round-trip travel, in-country travel, tuition and fees (where applicable) and materials expenditures (e.g., books, photocopying, art supplies).
